Our Alternative Provision is quality assured and commissioned by Torbay Children’s Services. We provide trauma informed support to young people who, for a range of reasons, are struggling to engage with a mainstream education or their Post 16 offer. After time at our provision, with the support of our skilled and nurturing youth workers, young people are able to reintegrate back into education, with a raised self-esteem and boosted confidence.
We are different to schools. We only have a few students in the centre with their youth worker at any one time, so we can get to know our young people and build strong and trusted relationships. We aim to help them overcome some of the barriers that have been holding them back and together we work out a plan that will support them to thrive.
The Youth Department is a place where young people can come to realise their potential, boost their mental health and build confidence. The young people plan their sessions with their allocated youth worker, which helps to ensure their attendance and engagement.
Our young people are given the encouragement and support that they need, in order to re-engage with their education and rebuild positive relationships. Through activities, PSHE and life skills sessions with their one to one youth worker, they learn how to raise their aspirations and unlock their potential.
The young people who we support are at the heart of every decision we make.
Our youth centre is a stone’s throw from the stunning South Devon coastline. We are privileged to have a facility that can boast:
